“So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. -John 19:30 NKJV
The Bible reminds us in Hebrews that there is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood. If Jesus came to save us from our sin, then His entire mission was to shed blood. After being placed in the predicament of the cross, He gives aide to His blood flow; and with some sense of accomplishment, He firmly states it is finished. He realizes He has completed His assignment. Most would think that when you are bleeding, you are losing; but His blood was His banner of victory. I am sure that it was hard. We see Jesus fainting from excessive blood loss. We see Him so stressed that His capillaries burst as blood escapes through His sweat glands. This was not an easy task, yet IT IS FINISHED!
What are you going through that has caused you to want to give up? What is it that makes you want to throw in the towel? Do you ask yourself how much emotional and verbal abuse can one take? How many emotional wounds can I handle? Sometimes, you find yourself bleeding; but Jesus, being the omniscient God, must know that this phenomenon of the cross has caused a guard to say, “Surely, He was the Son of God.” This phenomenon caused someone to stand back and see Him as more than ripped flesh. He was more than a good healer. He was the Savior of the world. Some called Him Elijah, while others called Him John the Baptist. But the bleeding flesh of Christ caused men to see Him as the only begotten Son of God.
Your testimony is built from your scars. IT… IS … FINISHED!
